Kindergarten Field Trip
Today I was able to go with Cade in his field trip to Circle Y in Corinth, MS. This was his first time ever to get to ride a BIG yellow school bus! He liked it. I followed behind carrying some of the coolers filled with lunches and snacks for the kids. Several moms from Cade's class went also so it was nice getting to know them a little. Living in a different county than he attends school makes it hard to get to know the kids and parents very well. Thankfully I've been able to go eat lunch and help in the classroom some so I've gotten to know the kids a little. He's made some good friends this year. Can't believe he will be done with school this time next week. Makes me sad!

A day at the park!
Spent the morning at the park. Kids had a great time. Chad has been out of school all week due to the storms that went through the area last weekend. Been nice having him here to help and enjoy the week with us.

The kids all wanted drinks from the pump even though there was a water fountain very close by. This was more fun I guess!!

Daddy helping him go down the fireman's pole.

Chance loving the swings

Cade enjoyed his extra days home this week too.

Thank you for the sunshine!
This past weekend brought some of the worst weather we've had in a long time with more rain than I've ever seen fall in such a short amount of time. We were under tornado watches/warnings and flood warnings all weekend. It was crazy! Henderson got lots and lots of rain and had some flooding and washed out roads, etc. Some of the surrounding counties are still dealing with major damage due to flooding and tornados. I've seen pictures of Nashville, Tn that make me want to cry. They are suffering some major losses there.
We continue to keep the surrounding counties and other places in our thoughts and prayers as they deal with the affects of the weekends storms with loss of life, homes, businesses, etc. It's going to be a LONG road to getting things back like they were...don't know if they will ever really get back to the way they were.
After the terrible weekend weather Monday brought nothing but blue skies and sunshine! We were so thankful to see the sunshine that we made sunshine snacks and then headed outdoors for hours of play! Chad and Cade have been home from school all week due to the storm damage. It's been nice having them home but I hate the reason they are out. Waiting to hear if he'll go back on Thursday or not!

The season has begun!
Saturday was supposed to be opening day for baseball season but due to bad weather we weren't able to play. Last night the boys finally got to play their "real" first game of the season. They've played a couple of scrimmage games but this was the first with them all dressed in their uniforms and on the new field!! They looked so cute! They played hard and did pretty well. I think there were some first game jitters but they seemed to have fun. Cade got a hit both times at bat and played the field pretty well too. He did about cause me to have a nervous breakdown though with his first at bat!! He hit the ball barely to the pitcher and ran to first but instead of running through first he turned toward second. Well he turned back around to get on first but the boy had the ball by this point and all he had to do was tag Cade and he would be out so our coach started yelling for Cade to run, so he did......all the way to third with the first baseman running behind him trying to tag him out the whole way!!! Thankfully Chad was coaching 3rd and had him stop!! Whew! Only in 5-6 yr old baseball can you get a triple on a ball that barely makes it to the pitcher!! Sure is fun to watch!! Once my heart slowed down I was able to enjoy the rest of the game!!
Paden and Sarah came to watch cade play and made this sign for him! They are the best!

This was Chad giving him pointers after his big run!!

Frogs, Frogs, Frogs!!
This week here at the house the kids have been doing Frog crafts and activities. Here are some pictures of the things we've done.
On Monday we made a tadpole using a small paper plate painted green, streamers with a few strokes of green paint, wiggle eye, and paper for mouth. I found this activity online somewhere but I can't seem to find it again. Anyway it was an easy and cute craft!

Found this life cycle activity on this site....dltk-kids.com This is one of those sites I visit weekly! Has so many activities for different ages and even has a bible section that I love!!

This next frog snack activity was found on this site......makinglearningfun.com The kids really liked this and it was super easy and they could do everything on their own (I did color the cream cheese for them though) This snack uses english muffins covered in tinted cream cheese, banana slices and chocolate chips as eyes, and a fruit roll up for a tongue. Easy Easy!!

We also talked about the 10 plagues being that 1 of them was frogs! I came across this cute song on this blog. I have several different plagues songs but had not heard this one before. Thought I'd share it for those of you who teach young kids.
sung to the tune of "This Old Man"
First God sent, Plague number one,Turned the Nile into blood. All the people in Egypt were feeling pretty low. They told Pharaoh "Let them Go!"
Then God sent, Plague number two, Jumping frogs all over you. All the people in Egypt were feeling pretty low. They told Pharaoh "Let them Go!
Then God sent, Plague number three, Swarms of gnats from head to knee. All the people in Egypt were feeling pretty low. They told Pharaoh "Let them Go!"
Then God sent, Plague number four, Filthy flies need we say more? All the people in Egypt were feeling pretty low. They told Pharaoh "Let them Go!"
Then God sent, Plague number five, All the livestock up and died. All the people in Egypt were feeling pretty low. They told Pharaoh "Let them Go!"
Then God sent,Plague number six,Boils and sores to make you sick. All the people in Egypt were feeling pretty low. They told Pharaoh "Let them Go!"
Then God sent, Plague number seven, Hail and lighting down from heaven. All the people in Egypt were feeling pretty low. They told Pharaoh "Let them Go!"
Then God sent, Plague number eight, Locust came and they sure ate.All the people in Egypt were feeling pretty low. They told Pharaoh "Let them Go!"
Then God sent, Plague number nine, Total darkness all the time. All the people in Egypt were feeling pretty low. They told Pharaoh "Let them Go!"
Then God sent, Plague number ten, Pharaoh's son died so he gave in. All the people in Egypt were feeling pretty low. Finally Pharaoh let them go

Cool!!
We've had problems with our ditch not draining for quite a while now. After it rains water just sits in the ditch for days and days unless we drain it out. We finally decided to have someone out to see if they could fix the problem. It's not cool when you are trying to sell your house and water constantly sits in the ditch along the side of the house. We've had nice weather for the past couple of weeks and are expecting some rain this weekend so we needed to get the problem fixed while the ground was somewhat dry. After supper tonight we heard a noise outside and went out to find "Mr. Backhoe" hard at work! He told us he'd be by if he got caught up on his other work. So glad he did. The rain is definitely coming and once it rains it takes forever for the ditch to dry back out. The boys were so excited to be that close and able to watch the man work. What little boy wouldn't love that! We'll wait until the rain comes to see if it drains and does what it's supposed to do. I REALLY hope it does.
