A trip to the zoo!

Today we took a trip to the Memphis zoo! We try to go every summer while Chad is out of school. All three boys had a great time. It was hot but not unbearable! The boys all had squirt bottle to help with staying cool. I think they mostly just enjoyed playing with them and squirting anything and everything..Cooper especially enjoyed his! I took more than 100 pictures (no surprise there) of our time at the zoo but here are just a few for you to look at! If you'll click on the collages you will be able to see the pictures much bigger!

Float Fun!

This afternoon the kids all swam, played in the sprinkler, and played on the slip and slide. They had a blast. It's been so hot outside the past week or so that we can hardly stand to be out unless we are playing in water. ..and eating popsicles! Popsicles are so yummy when it's hot out!! Today Chad and the kids came up with another fun thing to do with floats besides use them in the pool and on the slip and slide.

This was the funniest thing to watch and hear. The boys laughed so hard that you couldn't help but laugh along while you watched! I love to see them having so much fun. We love having daddy home for the summer!

Chance

While everyone else was still napping yesterday Chance enjoyed some pool time to himself...that doesn't happen often around here. I snapped several pictures of him playing in the water hose and pool. This was probably my favorite!

VBS with the 2 year olds

Another VBS has come and gone. This years theme was "Firm Believers in Christ". I taught the 2 year olds again this year. I had 6 kids each night. 2 year olds are a very challenging group to teach!! I had fun with them and I think they enjoyed their time at VBS too. Here are some pictures of each night. If you'll click on the collages you'll be able to see the pictures better!

Our first lesson during VBS was "Jesus Calms the Storm" I was able to reuse my boat from last year for this lesson so that was nice. We did several crafts for this lessons including toothpaste bags, ocean in a bottle, and a paper boat. The kids got cute little sailor hats to wear and ate blue jello and gold fish for their snack! It was a great start to VBS!

Our second night we talked about "Jesus Feeding the 5000". We made loaves and fish necklaces, baskets with loaves and fish, and ate fish sticks and rolls for our snack.

Our third night we talked about "Jesus Healing the 10 Lepers". This was a fun lesson. The kids got to stick spots on their skin, made several leper crafts and ate marshmallows (spots) and teddy grahams (lepers) for their snack.

Our last lesson was on "Jesus' Resurrection" My friend Sasha and I made a tomb for the kids to get in. They LOVED it! We also had resurrection cookies/buns for our snack. My friend Kim found this recipe and made these for my class and hers. They were really neat. You wrap a marshmallow in a crescent roll (tomb is not empty) and then bake them. The marshmallow melts and leaves you with an empty "tomb"! Cool!!

We did lots of neat things this week and sang lots of songs to go along with our lessons. If you want to see some more of the things we did go check out my friend Becky's Blog! She puts different bible ideas on their fairly often. Kim and I add things sometimes too. I (and probably Kim) will be posting some things over the next few days with ideas we used this week at VBS! It's a very good place to find ideas for different bible lessons. Check it out!!

Baseball Party!

Tonight was Cade's baseball team party! It was a swim party. The boys had SOOOO much fun! All but 2 of the boys on the team were able to come so we had a great group there. The boys got their trophies tonight so they were excited about that. Everyone enjoyed grilled hotdogs and chips for supper. We then enjoyed cake and cupcakes for dessert. We had a great season and really enjoyed being around this group of boys and their parents. We are already looking forward to next year!

Cade showing off his very cool trophy!!

I made this cake and a bunch of cupcakes for the party. I've had the cake pan to make this cake for a while but just haven't had a chance to use it. I thought a baseball party would be the perfect time to use it. I was very pleased with the outcome. It was a super easy cake to make.

A day with the cousins!

This morning the boys and I got up and headed to Savannah to spend some time with my sister and her family! We all went to the pool and swam and the boys had a GREAT time! Cade was even doing tricks off of the diving board by the time we left!! After swimming we went back to their house and played some more before heading home. It was a great day. Chad had a teacher inservice day today so he wasn't able to go with us. Maybe next time!! I had a van full of sleepyheads (including me) on our way home.

Had to get in a game of baseball before leaving! The boys were not ready to leave and are looking forward to our next trip!

Happy Birthday Chad!

Today is Chad's birthday! For the most part it was just a normal day. We had basketball camp all morning, mowed grass this afternoon, played outside with the kids, etc! The one thing that Chad requested was an ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins! I know it probably sounds really terrible but he went and picked his own cake up! Is that terrible??? He was already out anyway!! He got to pick the one he wanted doing it that way :-) I do think he picked the messiest cake they had...bright red icing! We all enjoyed cake after supper and the boys went directly into the tub after cake! Cade and Chance also gave Chad the homemade cards they made for him..with the help of Rah Rah!

Basketball Camp!

Cade spent every morning this week at basketball cub camp! He LOVED it! The coaches did an outstanding job with the boys. I think Cade's coach (Brian, who plays for the LIONS) had the hardest job of all. He had the 5 year olds (and one 4 year old) all week. He was so good with the boys. Chad ended up helping with camp too this week. He had a group of 3rd graders! He enjoyed being there with Cade. We found out today that he and Brian (Cade's coach) share a birthday...which is today!! That was neat. Here are a few pictures from Cade's week! Click on collage to see pictures enlarged!!

Baseball Camp!

This week Cade had had baseball camp. He loved it and I was glad to be able to spend a couple of days there watching him. Chad was able to go a couple of days and watch too. Chance and Cooper loved being at the baseball field. Chance would have loved to be able and get out there with Cade. His time will come soon enough. Here are some pictures from his week (the two days I was able to go watch)

Practicing hitting plastic golf balls! He actually did pretty well despite how it looks at his feet! Some of those balls belonged to the boys who went before Cade. He did add a few himself! The field looked so big with all of the little kids on it!

I loved the pictures of him batting from the "real" home plate!

Today the boys got to "practice" their sliding on a slip and slide. Most of the boys took off and slid across the tarp on their bellies..that's what Cade did! Let's hope he never does that in a game...that could hurt! He had lots of fun!

Cade with his certificate and t-shirt! My camera was having trouble focusing and I missed the shot of him actually receiving his stuff. Oh well! He just stared and smiled at his certificate after he got it...funny!

To help stay cool this week we ate popsicles at the field! That was a treat for the kids. I loved the picture of Chance staring onto the field where Cade was practicing his batting!
