Sonic Treat!

We planned all week for Friday night to be Sonic treat night. Boys have been wanting to try the new Reece’s Overload Waffle Cone. It did NOT disappoint!! It was so good! The cone was coated with peanut butter on the inside all the way through. You got the good Reece’s taste throughout the whole treat! Yum!! The toppings were delicious as well but that cone is what made the treat do great! It was worth the wait. Sky joined us on our little outing. 

Spicy UNO

We’ve been playing lots of games during this time at home. The boys introduced me to Spicy UNO a couple days ago. It’s lots of fun and can be played with a regular set of UNO cards. We’ve played it so many times over the past few days. You have to be paying attention or you’ll end up with lots of cards. When a 4 is played there must be silence or you get a card for each word spoken while a 4 is showing. Boys struggle with this card! 😂....a 0 means you can switch decks with any player. If a 6 is played everyone must slap the deck. Last person has to draw extra cards. You have to really be paying attention the whole time! 

Easter Sunday

This Easter was a little different than normal....well a lot different I should say. Normally we would be in Nashville at Lads to Leaders and we’d be worshipping with thousands of people this morning. But, due to the Coronavirus there was no Lads this year. The boys did wake up to Easter baskets full of goodies and a festive breakfast. We did dress up because the boys were asked to help with singing for the online service at Pinson. We did that and it was so nice seeing them serve in that way. Felt good to get dressed up and go somewhere too! We ate a great lunch and enjoyed a lazy afternoon. Storms passed through the area earlier leaving some flooding so it was a good day to stay inside. 

A helper I will be...

When my boys were little we sang the song A Helper I Will Be’ a lot! It got us through toy clean up many times! Being in a mandatory ‘lockdown’ has provided them with so much more time to do good for others. We live in a neighborhood with several families....some of which are older. Where we can’t just go hang out with people we can still help when there is a need.....while maintaining a safe distance. Yesterday the Lowe’s asked if the boys could help with a project. Of course they can!! They have all kinds of time! They helped the Lowe’s put a barrier around their flower bed. They used a drill, mallet and measured some wood. These are lessons they wouldn’t have learned in school. Well maybe one day in Ag class! Where we are missing school and sports and our everyday activities....it sure is nice when they can learn some things they might not have otherwise. The best part....helping others! I’m glad they were given that opportunity. 

Making the most of our days

We are trying to make the most of this quarantine. We’ve done yard work, enjoyed being outside, played games, watched movies, and done lots of cooking! When you’re home all day everyday a lot more time in  the kitchen is required. Cade has become know as the Ramen Noodle King, Coop is the Coffee King, and Chance.....well he’s great at eating anything and everything 😂.  Yesterday I made my first key-lime pie. It was easy (just took quite a few squeezed limes) and turned out SO good! Everyone gave it a big thumbs up. We also roasted hotdogs and made s’mores over the fire pit. Decided to change it up a little and use fudge stripe cookies with the marshmallows. They were really good too. We have plans to try different candy bars on our s’mores too. 

13 hours later

We finished another puzzle this week. Cooper is the only one who really has the patience to help me so we got a puzzle for him. His favorite team members is the Miami Dolphins so we chose this one. He worked on it a little here and there throughout the week. He enjoyed helping me. The other 3 guys in the house put a combined total of about 10 pieces on it. lol! They don’t have the patience or desire to work puzzles. After 13 hours we finally got it done.  We plan to glue it and hang it somewhere! 

Coffee Master

Cooper made coffee for the other guys this morning. He loves his coffee. According to them he could totally make money selling his coffee creations. Maybe one day we’ll have a coffee shop owner in the family. Or maybe he’ll work at Starbucks when he’s a little older. Either way....we are enjoying his coffee drinks! 

Crazy times!

A friend of mine posted this on FB and I thought it would be a good thing to be reminded of one day. I don’t ever want us to forget when the Covid-19 Coronavirus controlled our nation. This is a crazy time for our country and a time like we’ve never seen before. We are a few weeks into this virus hitting the U.S and there are no signs of it slowing down yet.

School closed until at least April 24 or longer. 

Self-distancing measures on the rise.

Tape on the floors at grocery stores and others to help distance shoppers (6ft) from each other.

Limited number of people inside stores, therefore, lineups outside the store doors.

Non-essential (no haircuts or mani pedis)stores and businesses mandated closed.

Parks, trails, entire cities locked up.

Entire sports seasons cancelled.

Concerts, tours, festivals, entertainment events - cancelled.

Weddings, family celebrations, holiday gatherings - cancelled.

No gatherings of 50 or more, then 10 or more.

Don't socialize with anyone outside of your home.

Children's outdoor play parks are closed.

We are to distance from each other.

Shortage of masks, gowns, gloves for our front-line workers.

Shortage of ventilators for the critically ill.

Panic buying sets in and we have no toilet paper, no disinfecting supplies, no paper towel no laundry soap, no hand sanitizer.

Shelves are bare.

Manufacturers, distilleries and other businesses switch their lines to help make visors, masks, hand sanitizer and PPE.

Government closes the border to all non-essential travel.

Fines are established for breaking the rules.

Stadiums and recreation facilities open up for the overflow of Covid-19 patients.

Press conferences daily from the President. Daily updates on new cases, recoveries, and deaths.

Government incentives to stay home.

Barely anyone on the roads.

People wearing masks and gloves outside.

Essential service workers are terrified to go to work.

Medical field workers are afraid to go home to their families.

This is the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) Pandemic, declared March 11th, 2020.

Why, you ask, do I write this status?

One day it will show up in my memory feed, and it will be a yearly reminder that life is precious and not to take the things we dearly love for granted.

We have so much!

Be thankful. Be grateful.

Be kind to each other - love one another - support everyone.

Gone Fishing

Today was another beautiful day. Being quarantined has provided us with lots of family time. Today we went across the street and fished for a little while. Cooper caught 7 (one catfish!) and Chance caught 1. Cade has no luck which did not go over well with him. He doesn’t enjoy fishing unless he’s catching something. I just enjoyed being there and watching. I did help unhook one catch.
