Party at the Farm

Caleb came home for a short visit from the army this summer. Before heading back out for another year and a half to South Korea we had a get together at the farm for him. We all ate well and enjoyed being able to spend some time with him before he left. We are so very proud of him. He's such a neat guy.

The boys with Caleb

The creek is a great place for pictures. We took quite a few while at the farm!

I love this one of the boys looking in the water. The reflection is perfectly clear!

Clara Ruth had the house all decked out in red, white, and blue for the occasion

We look forward to the next visit home!!

A day at the farm

My boys love anytime they get to go to Papa and Clara Ruth's house! What young boy wouldn't like to spend the day playing in the creek, riding 4-wheelers, painting slate rocks to take home, and eating special foods prepared just for them! I can't think of many who wouldn't like that!! I'm glad we live close enough for them to do this every so often. Now that summer is here we"ll be able to go visit more.

Trip to the farm!

Yesterday Cade was out of school due to a staff development day for Chad so we headed to Savannah to visit Papa and Clara Ruth. Happened to be on a day I didn't have any extra kiddos so it worked out great! The boys always love going to the farm. It was rainy yesterday so I wasn't sure we would get to go outside much but we did get out for a little while. One thing the boys always want to do while at Papa's house is ride the 4-wheeler. Just so happened that the 4-wheeler was in the shop this trip so they got to go for a ride behind the lawn mower this time. I even got in on the fun! I decided after that ride that the saying "Nothing Runs Like A Deere' is so true! That lawn mower pulled a trailer, me, and the boys all over the place..including through the creek! I was impressed! My sister Amanda came out and had lunch with us! I enjoyed getting to visit with her for a while. We enjoyed the trip and the boys are looking forward to going back.

Before heading home the boys made "moon cookies" with Clara Ruth. They even got a mini lesson on the different stages of the moon and about Neil Armstrong landing on the moon...ha! They turned out good and we are still enjoying them today.
We stopped by to visit with the cousins before coming home. It was a good day!

Finally!

Once again I have been trying to upload pictures to my blog for days now with no luck. The couple times I have gotten a picture to go through the coloring was wrong and the whole picture wouldn't show up. I have ni idea what is going on. I think it has something to do with my internet browswer on the Mac. Anyway I finally e-mailed a picture to Chad's laptop that has Internet Explorer on it and immediately a picture uploaded. I guess until things start working right on my MacI'll use Chad's laptop.

We had a busy week this past week. On Thursday we had Cade's first parent-teacher conference. It went great! After meeting with his teacher the boys and I headed on to Savannah to see my sister Amanda and then to see Papa and Clara Ruth. We don't get to go visit as much as we would like but when we do make it over there the boys have a great time. The boys threw rocks in the creek, rode the 4-wheeler, played cards, basketball, etc. Becuase of my uploading issues I'm just going to put this one picture on. I thought it was a great picture down by the creek.

Fun on the Farm

What a busy day we had. We left out this morning at about 8:30 with plans to see and visit with several people. We returned home at 5:30 very tired after a wonderful day. We first went to the farm to see my dad and his wife. The boys always have a great time at their house. It was a beautiful day so we spent most of the time outside throwing rocks in the creek and riding the 4-wheeler. We went from there to see my grandmother in the nursing home. She was thrilled to see the boys! The boys don't get to see granny very often so I'm glad we were able to get a visit in with her today. She was doing well and just happy that we stopped by. We went from there on to my sister Amanda's house to see her and the kids. It's always nice going over there because her kids take my kids as soon as we pull in the driveway and entertain them until we leave which gives me time to sit and chat with my sister!! I didn't get to stay as long as I would have liked (and didn't take any pictures while there) but we had to get back for the boys sleepover with Rah Rah! They were really looking forward to that. I have a feeling they won't be staying up too late tonight. They had a very long day!

On our way to the farm

We had a very busy day yesterday! We started our day with Cade's soccer game. We went straight from there to a birthday party and left from there to go to Savannah to visit. My brother Matt was visiting from Michigan so we had a big family gathering with good food and fun. We got home and had to get ready for company last night. Needless to say we were very tired by the time we went to bed! me and my little brother Matt
On our way out to the farm we stopped at the nursing home to visit my grandmother. She really enjoyed the visit.
Cade and granny!

Fun on the farm

The boys always love playing with their cousins. They never lack for attention when their cousins are around!!! keeping an eye (and hand)on Chance at the creek!

Cooper loved this water. It was coming from a natural spring off the hill behind the house. My dad hooked a hose to it so the kids could use it while we were at the farm.
playing in the creek!

exhausted after a long day!

The boys had such a long day and were wiped out by the time we headed home!

Cooper got to enjoy his first lollipop on the way home from the farm. He was SO tired and very unhappy. I had no more snacks and drinks but I dug in the bag and found a lollipop. He was very happy for a little while!
Oh No! It's almost gone.
And it's all gone! We were almost home by this point so that was good!

Aonther trip to the farm

Yesterday we took another trip to the farm to see Papa and Clara Ruth. Sarah went with us and we had a good time. We went swimming for just a little bit because it was a little chilly. It was overcast which made a huge difference in the temperature of the water. Sarah took the boys for a ride on the 4-wheeler which they always love. We ate lunch in the gazebo and enjoyed some cantaloupe and watermelon from the garden. The boys and I stopped by school to see Chad and they got to play for a while before coming home. We had a good day!

A visit to the farm!

Today we went to Savannah to visit Papa and Clara Ruth. We had a very good visit. The boys rode the 4-wheeler, went swimming, went fishing, threw rocks in the creek, ate lunch in the gazebo, had homemade ice cream, and went swimming some more!! They had so much fun and wanted to know when we were going to come back and visit (they asked this before we even left!) it's so nice to be able to go visit and do things we don't normally get to do. I wish we were a little closer so we could go visit more often. It's only an hour away but it's still hard to go visit as often as we would like. The first thing we did was ride the 4-wheeler over to see the garden and the field of sunflowers. They were very pretty!
Me and the boys on the 4-wheeler for a picture. I only took one at a time over the creek. Cooper didn't get to go. Maybe next year!
Cade with the sunflowers
Chance and the pretty flowers
Chance loved riding the 4-wheeler. Cade did too.
A pretty picture!

A visit to the farm-Part 2

Cade spent lots of time swimming. He actually learned to swim under water without any floats. He did GREAT! It was so fun to see him learn how to swim.
Chance stayed in the white water (on the steps) just like our last trip. At least he likes the water!
Cooper enjoyed taking it easy in his float!
Chance picking crab apples off the tree. He ate several of these while we were there. If you've never eaten a crab apple then you don't know how sour they are. I was very surprised he liked them well enough to eat more than one!
Cade did not like eating the crab apples but did like picking them

A visit to the farm-Part 3

The boys had fun fishing while at Papa and Clara Ruth's. They caught several fish. The boys off to fish in the creek
Chance fishing as Cade watches..I think Chad has the other fishing pole at this point. The boys had already caught 5 or 6 fish when I took this picture
Cade with his fish. He was so excited. The last time Papa took them fishing the only thing they caught was a big leaf! They did throw the fish back in. Papa said this was one of the biggest fish he's seen caught in the creek!
Here's Chance showing off his big catch. He was slinging that fish all over the place. I know that fish was glad to get back to the water!
Papa taking the fish off the hook so they could throw it back in the water!
