Cade finishes 2nd grade

I am so behind on blogging. School starts back again in just a couple of weeks and I'm just getting around to posting the end of last school year!! Oh well....we've been busy!! Cade had a great year in second grade. He had a wonderful teacher who he loved.

Cade finished the school year with the most AR points in not only his class but all of second grade! He worked hard all year long and we were so very proud of him. He loves to read and I hope he always will!

Cade's Birthday

Cade's birthday has come and gone. I'm about a month behind on blogging. We had his and Chance's party between their two birthdays with all of their friends but wanted to make sure we acknowledged his actual day too. I made cake balls for the first time ever and they were pretty good. I can't believe my oldest child has turned 8. What a blessing he is!

Cade's Landform Project

Cade has his first big project due this week. They are studying landforms in second grade and he had to make a landform project showing at least 9 different landforms! Mrs. Jessica told them that she expected them to do most of the work. I gathered supplies for Cade and put him to work! Chance wanted to help and Cade let him help a little. Cade worked hard pressing play dough to form land and water. I helped some with the shaping of things and the coloring of the flour mixture but he really did most of the work. I was proud of how involved he was with it and how it turned out!

I've been walking around with blue, green, and black fingers for a few days now due to coloring the flour mixture for the water, some grass, and the mountain! Told Cade I loved him very much and he better not forget that!! His little fingers look perfectly normal! He's very proud of his project!

Happy Birthday Cade and Chance

We celebrated Cade and Chance's birthdays this weekend at Up-N-Jumpin. They had lots of their friends there to celebrate with them. I think everyone had a great time. They jumped on bouncers and play lots of other games. We ate hotdogs and other goodies and of course had cake and ice cream. The boys both wanted football themed cakes so that made it easy for me. Cade asked for a football field and Chance asked for a football helmet! That's what they got!! It was a great afternoon spent with family and friends! I've said it before and I'll say it again.... we are blessed with many great friends here! I love watching the kids of my friends and my boys grow up together! They are a special bunch of kiddos with great parents!

Happy Chinese New Year!

The second grade at Adamsville celebrated Chinese New Year on Friday. They celebrated by having a chinese parade and eating chinese food. Cade got to lead the parade through the school because he has the highest AR points in second grade. He's worked hard and we are so proud of him. He got to carry a big white pearl on a stick that the chinese dragon follows. According to the chinese the pearl is known as the "Pearl of Wisdom". It is said that the Dragon chasing this "pearl of wisdom" represents the Dragon's way to pursue insight and knowledge. The dragon represents wisdom, power and wealth. Very interesting! The whole second grade chanted "Gung Hey Fat Choy" throughout the parade which means....Happy Chinese New Year! What a fun day! Chad was very sweet and took my camera to snap some photos since I couldn't be there.

Cade's playing basketball

Cade has been looking forward to being in second grade for quite a while. The reason.....because he finally gets to play basketball on a real team! Chad is coaching his first basketball team and has a great group of boys playing. Cade is really enjoying it and is looking forward to getting back to playing after the holidays. They are a lot of fun to watch.

Another school year is here!

This year we have 2 boys in school. Cade started second grade and Chance started Kindergarten. So far they are both having great years! Chance was not happy at all about starting school but has loved it since his first day. I am so happy about that. Cade is having a great start to the year too. They both have great teachers and we are looking forward to watching them learn and grow throughout the year.

Field Day

Cade enjoyed his first "real" field day this year. When the kids are in Kindergarten at Adamsville they get a scaled down version of field day which basically includes several party jumpers. They love it but it's not the same as what the bigger kids get to do. Cade looked forward to field day for weeks before the day came. I took a day off from keeping kids and rode with Cade and Chad to school and spent the whole day with them. It was lots of fun. Cade enjoyed himself very much!! Chad went around and got a few pictures for me since I was working a station.

Here we are in Chad's office waiting for school to start

I got put to work making a very large twister board. This was a new event for field day! It went over very well!

Can't have field day without the egg and balloon toss!

This was a fun water relay

Tug of war!

This was obviously a huge hit!!

Funny conversations with the boys

Today Chance, Cooper and I went to Adamsville so I could help in Cade's class and then went on to Savannah after that. We had a great lunch with my sister Amanda, my dad, and Clara Ruth. On the way home out of nowhere Chance starts this conversation.....

Chance- "When I go up to Heaven one day the angels are going to have funny names."

Me- "What do you mean?'

Chance- "I've never heard of any angels named Cade, Chance, and Cooper"

Me- So you think those would be funny angel names, huh? What would be an angel name that's not funny?"

Chance- "Gabriel"

Me- "So you don't think Gabriel is a funny name for an angel?"

Chance- "No"

Me- "So what do you want to be called if your an angel?"

Chance- "I just want to be called Chance"

It seems like some of the best conversations take place when we are in the van! I just love what they come up with.

Then tonight as Chad was putting Cade in bed they had a great conversation! Chad has had a sinus headache for like 2 days now and Cade was asking him about it before Chad left the room.

Cade- "Do you still have a headache?"

Chad- "Yeah"

Cade- "I hate it when I have a headache like that because I just want to lay around all day"

Chad- "When you're a dad you can't lay around all day"

Cade- "Why not?"

Chad- "Who's going to help take care of you"

Cade- "When I grow up and have a headache I'm going to lay around whenever I want because I'm not going to be a dad"

Chad- "you're not....why not?"

Cade- "because I'm not getting married!"

Chad-"You're not...okay"

Cade-" I'm just going to live with one of my college buddies who's not getting married either!"

Hilarious! Makes you wonder what goes on in those heads!! Apparently he's not getting married and will lay around all day when he has a headache! Ha!

Happy Birthday Cade

Cade turned 7 yesterday. It's hard to believe I am the mom to a seven year old. Just doesn't seem right! We had his party a month or so ago along with Chance but we wanted to acknowledge his actual day!! We had lunch at Pizza Hut because pizza is his favorite food! Afterwards we enjoyed an ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins. He had a great birthday celebration.

Showing off his new shirt from Rah Rah.

and his new shirt from us. The boy likes clothes....well athletic type clothes!

His yummy mint chocolate chip ice cream cake!

Happy Birthday Cade!

Valentine's Day treats!

I was asked to send a Valentine snack with Cade to school today. Last night after worship we came home and made a couple of batches of heart shaped rice krispie treats. Cade asked if he could wear my apron and wanted to do everything by himself. He did a great job with very little help from me. He was proud of himself saying, "that's the first thing I've ever "baked" all by myself". I was very proud of the job he did as well.

Going to Heaven in shorts!

This was a conversation that took place at Rah Rah's house on Sunday between Cade (almost 7) and Chance (5 years old).....I'm reposting this from a post she put on Facebook! Some of the things Chance said were things he was repeating that he had heard Chad say that morning while looking out at the birds!

Today at lunch my two oldest grandsons spontaneously began some interesting, hilarious, and thought-provoking comments about things to come. The 5-year-old said, "You should have seen the huge flock of blackbirds in our yard this morning. Looked like someone in Heaven was sprinkling pepper. Maybe Grandma [great-grandmother] was sprinkling pepper." The 7-year-old said, "I bet she's getting to spend a lot of time with Moses and Noah and all those people in the Bible who died. It will probably take her a year to talk to all those people! I wonder what everybody wears in Heaven. I hope Jesus comes when I'm wearing short sleeves and shorts so I can wear short sleeves and shorts forever." Then he said, "Maybe Jesus will come tomorrow." The 5-year-old spoke up and said, "He can't come tomorrow! It's Valentine's Day!" Granted, they don't have a full understanding about Heaven and Jesus' return -- but who does? We smiled, even laughed, at their comments. But the simplicity of their outlook on eternity, their fearless confidence in God's promised home for the faithful, reminded me that I need to have that same simplistic, confident, hopeful look toward an eternity with my God. Thank you, Lord, for precious little ones who teach me so much!

Out with Cade!

Last night Cade and I headed out by ourselves to watch the Lady Lions and Lions play ball. We enjoyed the night out with just the two of us because Chad and the other 2 boys wanted to stay home! It was kinda nice getting to take just Cade. With him being in school I rarely get to do things with just him! Both teams won their games (although we only got to watch the first half of the boys game) so that made it an extra great outing!

Happy 100th Day of school

Cade had his 100th day of school celebration today. They were supposed to celebrate a couple weeks back but because of snow days it kept getting pushed back. He's already half way through his first grade year. In just 6 months he'll be starting 2nd gade. That's hard to believe!

Here was his 100th day project! Each kid had to make something to show 100....we used 100 whale crackers to make a whale!

Wearing his 100th day crown and his necklace that shows 100. His necklace actually shows 100 counting by 5,s! They could choose how to show 100 and that's the way he chose to show it!

Birthday celebration

Saturday we celebrated Chance and Cade's birthday's with their friends. We had a big time with over 25 kids and lots of parents present!! Whew! The kids had a great time jumping/sliding on the party jumper and playing ball! The boys declared it a great party!!

Cade and his superman cake!

Chance and his batman cake

Chance and 2 of his favorite girls!! We were so glad Haven was able to make it to the party!!

The kids enjoyed playing on a party jumper again this year!! Sure does make party planning easy when you get a jumper!! Add a ball and they are set for hours of fun!

Cake and present time!
