A special weekend

Labor Day weekend was a special weekend for me because I got to spend it with several members of my birth family. There were 9 siblings in my birth family and 6 of us (and their families) were together for the weekend. I guess my situation is a little unique in that I was adopted at an early age into a great family but have kept in touch with my birth siblings throughout the years. I don't know how many people do that! We just haven't seen each other much throughout the years. It's been 7 years since I've seen any of them. The boys loved meeting cousins and aunts and uncles they'd never met before. You would have thought they'd known each other for ever though! They loved being together. I laughed so much and learned so much about everyone and heard stories from when I was a baby and toddler. That was neat. It was neat to see how much we are all alike even though we didn't grow up together! 3 of my brothers (including my twin) weren't able to make it. I'm hoping to see them the next time we get together which we're hoping will be soon!

My sister Amanda and Chad's mom came over and helped with food and clean-up so I wouldn't have to mess with that and I could just enjoy my company. They are awesome like that!! Thank you both so much. I love you and it helped me so much!!

Another school year is here!

This year we have 2 boys in school. Cade started second grade and Chance started Kindergarten. So far they are both having great years! Chance was not happy at all about starting school but has loved it since his first day. I am so happy about that. Cade is having a great start to the year too. They both have great teachers and we are looking forward to watching them learn and grow throughout the year.

Happy Birthday Cooper

Today my baby turned 4. Wow! I truly can not believe that it has been 4 years since he entered this world. I mean where has the time gone?? He has been such a blessing to our lives. He's an awesome, funny, sweet kid! We love you Cooper and hope you had a great 4th birthday!!

Cooper requested this tiger cake. Thought it turned out pretty good, Cooper was pleased so I was happy with it.

H is for helicopter

Our neighbor is a nurse with AirEvac. The kids think it's really cool that Mr. Scott gets to ride in a helicopter when he works. He and the crew came to Henderson a few weeks ago. He called to let us know they were coming so we loaded up and headed to watch the helicopter land. It was really neat and very windy because we were really close!! The kids got to explore the inside and get their pictures made. We all enjoyed it and appreciate the work that Mr. Scott and his crew does.

End of Summer Fun

We took a trip to Chuck E Cheese the week before school started back. This was our one last fun thing to do before the boys started back (or in Chance's case started for the first time) to school. We had a good time and the boys are looking forward to the next time they get to go.

Gone Fishin

This summer Chad and the boys went fishing several times. We have a neighbor with a big pond who invited the boys over anytime to fish. They loved going because every time they went they caught LOTS of fish. I finally got to tag along on one of the fishing trips and enjoyed watching their excitement. I was surprised to see Cooper catch a fish immediately after throwing in his hook. When I say immediately I mean like maybe 20 seconds after he threw it in...no kidding!! What kid wouldn't like fishing in a pond like that!!

Chad stayed busy keeping worms on the hooks! I just couldn't bring myself to do it!

Happy July 4th

We didn't make big plans for the 4th this year. We ended up spending the evening with several of our neighbors playing badminton and shooting fireworks. We all had a great time. Afterwards we took the boys to Freed to watch the Horizons firework show.
The boys and several of our neighbors kids. They spend quite a bit of time playing together!

This is what Cooper thought of shooting fireworks in the driveway!

He was okay as long as he sat in my lap

Cade loved doing fireworks

Chance enjoyed them too

We all enjoyed the show at Freed....even Cooper!
