Chance's first baseball season

Chance is playing baseball for the first time this year. He likes it fine but I think would be just as happy not playing too!! He's had a couple of scrimmage games and has done well. We'll see how the rest of the season goes. He may decide he loves it by the time the season is over. Time will tell!

Funny conversations with the boys

Today Chance, Cooper and I went to Adamsville so I could help in Cade's class and then went on to Savannah after that. We had a great lunch with my sister Amanda, my dad, and Clara Ruth. On the way home out of nowhere Chance starts this conversation.....

Chance- "When I go up to Heaven one day the angels are going to have funny names."

Me- "What do you mean?'

Chance- "I've never heard of any angels named Cade, Chance, and Cooper"

Me- So you think those would be funny angel names, huh? What would be an angel name that's not funny?"

Chance- "Gabriel"

Me- "So you don't think Gabriel is a funny name for an angel?"

Chance- "No"

Me- "So what do you want to be called if your an angel?"

Chance- "I just want to be called Chance"

It seems like some of the best conversations take place when we are in the van! I just love what they come up with.

Then tonight as Chad was putting Cade in bed they had a great conversation! Chad has had a sinus headache for like 2 days now and Cade was asking him about it before Chad left the room.

Cade- "Do you still have a headache?"

Chad- "Yeah"

Cade- "I hate it when I have a headache like that because I just want to lay around all day"

Chad- "When you're a dad you can't lay around all day"

Cade- "Why not?"

Chad- "Who's going to help take care of you"

Cade- "When I grow up and have a headache I'm going to lay around whenever I want because I'm not going to be a dad"

Chad- "you're not....why not?"

Cade- "because I'm not getting married!"

Chad-"You're not...okay"

Cade-" I'm just going to live with one of my college buddies who's not getting married either!"

Hilarious! Makes you wonder what goes on in those heads!! Apparently he's not getting married and will lay around all day when he has a headache! Ha!

Craft time!

Over the past couple of weeks we've had some beautiful weather which means we've spent lots of time outside. I've slacked some on school/craft time because I'd just rather be outside. We have taken a little time to do some crafty stuff though. We've been working through our vowels the past few weeks. Here are a few things we've done with them. I can't find my "a" pictures! Not sure what happened to those. But here are a few of the things we did to go along with e, i, and o.

made orange pudding by mixing red and yellow together

simple octopus craft I found on-line somewhere

Cooper with his inchworm

Chance painting his toilet paper roll that would soon become his inchworm

decorating eggs with egg shells that we dyed.

handprint elephant

"E" is for elephant

As you can see nothing we do is difficult! Their attention spans won't allow for anything too time consuming but sitting down for just a few minutes gives them something different to do and helps break up the day a little.

Sleepover in mom's bed!

Chad has been away this weekend. I told the boys that they could sleep in my bed one night while daddy was away. They NEVER get to sleep in our bed so they were super excited. Last night at about 10:15 we finally crawled into bed. We had to all sleep sideways on the bed in order for us (and all their stuffed animals) to fit. After much giggling and squirming they all finally fell asleep around 10:45. I knew I'd probably get no sleep because I'd be getting kicked and elbowed all night. But actually I don't think a single person moved until 5:45 this morning!! Not bad for 4 people crammed in a bed! The only bad thing is that they were ready to get up at 5:45! Ugh! I am so not an early morning person but I enjoyed getting to spend some close time with my boys! As much as I enjoyed it I'm glad they are just as happy to be sleeping in their own beds!

Onions...how we dislike you!!

I mean seriously...look at all of those onions...and in such a small area too! Yuck! I can't stand onions but know I'll have to deal with them in the yard until it gets too hot for them to grow. Last summer with buying our house and moving in and all of that we never quite got our flower beds looking like we wanted. Our goal this year is to get them in better shape! While Chad was away this weekend the boys and I spent quite a bit of time outside playing and digging onions out of the flower beds! And do you want to know what the great part about it was? Sure you do!! I didn't even ask them to help!!! They VOLUNTEERED on their own to dig up onions and weeds!! I'm sure the fact that they could use shovels all by themselves was a big part of them wanting to help. Whatever works!! They turned out to be super onion pullers...getting roots more times than not! Hopefully those pesky things will stay out of our flower beds!!

Cooper digging in the dirt! I can't actually say he pulled up more than a couple onions but he sure enjoyed the dirt!

Cade turned out to be a Super Duper onion digger/puller! We would dig the dirt around the onions to loosen it up (makes it easier to get the root) and then pull the onions out!

Chance was a great help too but didn't last quite as long as Cade.

Now look how much better this little area looks. Can't wait to get me some flowers planted in there!! Now we're working in the bushes next to the house. It's a much bigger area and has lots of onions!

A Chef...Maybe!

It will be interesting to see what jobs my boys choose to do when they get older. Will I have a preacher, teacher, accountant, NBA player (that's what Cade says he's going to be..ha), etc. Who knows what path they will choose. I will not at all be surprised if Chance chooses something that has him working with food! He loves to be in the kitchen and wants to help with just about everything I make. He walks around the kitchen smelling every ingredient I use.....seriously! I try to let him help with the cooking some because I know he loves it! Yes...I usually have a bigger mess because of it but that's okay! I think he must get this love of being in the kitchen and cooking from his Uncle Cody and Aunt Lauren! Who knows! Maybe one day he'll be a chef!!!

On the menu for tonight....Dumplings!

A little help from Cooper while cutting out the dumplings. Maybe I'll have 2 Chefs!

Celebrating Dr. Seuss

This past week we spent a few days doing Dr. Seuss activities in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday on Wednesday! I pulled out all the Dr. Seuss books I could find and we even checked some more out at the library so we would have plenty of Dr. Seuss books to read throughout the week.

The snacks I sent with Cade to school to share with his class. Cat in the Hat cookies and Green Eggs and "Ham" treats.

The kids enjoyed decorating their own Cat in the Hat cookies for snack time!

We made Hats!

I just loved this picture of my 2 little ones (well not MY little ones but ones I keep) "reading" Dr. Seuss books. You should have heard them. They were so sweet "reading" their books!

Cooper showing off his hat!
